While you can’t plan for everything, there are definitely things you can do to help your family prepare for a disaster, and recover more quickly after it strikes.  Here are some resources you might consider:

Take pictures of your important documents. Keep all of your important documents in one, easily accessible spot. Also remember that documents are replaceable. Lives are not.

  • Passport
  • Credit cards
  • Insurance policies (all pages)
  • Leases
  • Deeds to your home
  • Mortgage documents (at least the first page)
  • Car loan documents
  • Birth certificates
  • Immigration documents (green cards, work permits, visa applications, etc.)
